EU Parliament: Schulz, “Interreligious dialogue against radicalisation”. Seminar in Brussels

(Brussels) “Terrorism and radicalisation must be fought through prevention, monitoring, intelligence-gathering, and updated rules and sanctions. But there is one tool which beats radicalisation before it even takes place: dialogue”. Thus President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz explains the purpose of the 26-April initiative, dedicated to the issue of radicalisation and how to prevent it thanks also to Muslim communities living in EU countries. Schulz says: “We are increasingly witnessing the phenomenon not just of segregated societies, but of more and more segregated and alienated lives. Dialogue helps cure this sad reality. Next week’s event will be the European Parliament’s own contribution to tackling this issue”. European Muslims’ ways to face the radicalisation phenomenon will be debated during a seminar at the European Parliament, Brussels, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.. Several (mostly Muslim) experts and speakers will take part in it. Current projects and strategies to tackle the phenomenon on national or European level will also be debated. You can follow the debate live via webstreaming: www.europarl.europa.eu. Complete programme: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/resources/library/media/20160421RES24331/20160421RES24331.pdf
